City State Democracy’s historians continue to uncover antidemocratic movements that worked to undermine and destroy past democratic states from the inside. Illiberalism can only destroy the pillars of democracy when a populace becomes uneducated. As Hannah Arendt reflected, over a century ago, that “The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists.”
A truer example of this is harder to find than the 1/6/2021 attempted coup of ancient Earth’s United States government by radicalized, illiberal, extremists that had fallen victim to the lies and propaganda of their strongman, autocratic, and fascist leader.
Defenders of democracy must always be on guard for the autocrats that will work to spread hate, fear, and division in order to obtain power. There are many historical efforts of good people coming together to defeat these dangerous extremists.
This is why Democracy’s Parliamentary Council and Rhea First Prime have instituted a robust educational program with a focus on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and critical thinking. Our citizens will get the best educations to prepare them for their duties as statesmen within a healthy representative democracy.
As we think about the dangers of past nefarious plots to overturn the will of the people, our leaders reflect upon our current galactic situation. For those unfamiliar with current events, we give you the latest episode of Galnet News Digest.
Whatever evil designs the perpetuators of this latest heinous crime are plotting, our leaders intend to be prepared to defend our citizens. Our science and intelligence departments will be working overtime to coordinate efforts to upgrade our fleets against what could be a potentially significant Thargoid threat.
City State Democracy and MAKE will continue to enlist commanders willing to put life and limb on the line to preserve democracy at all costs, against all enemies, regardless of where they are found.
