While Democracy’s crew is hard at work deciphering data banks of obelisk data 2 million years old and fitting it’s vessels with modified high-energy weapons that’d make any CMDR blush; the science department saw the rare opportunity for discovery at the near by Pencil Nebula.
The remnant of a supernova that exploded 11,000 years ago and now spans an area of space 100 light years across, the science department sent an expedition out onboard the vessel Leading Light to survey this region of space for Democracy’s navigational systems. However, what this science team didn’t expect to be doing was to become the acting envoy of Democracy at that time.
The crew on board the Leading Light were surprised to find a colony of terraforms nestled within an asteroid this far out from the bubble. In Sector EL-Y D5 of the Pencil Nebula orbiting the terraforming planet A5 is the colony New Growth. Leading Light knew it had a directive to extend a welcoming hand of democracy to those in these remote parts of space. Unfortunately, first contact was hostile.
The Shunned, who claim this space as their dominion, were displeased to say the least to see a Federation marked vessel in their space. The anarchist group made two failed attempts to rip the science vessel out of super cruse and a third successful one. Fortunately before they did, Leading Lights crew was able to send out a distress signal which was answered by Compatriot Unique Mcpherson who came to the aid of the science crew to fighting off The Shunned pilot.
Compatriot U. Mcpherson extended a warm and apologetic greeting for our welcoming. She briefly explained the politics of the system and the growing cooperative movement she belongs to known as the Seven Stages Movement before provided safe escort to the colony New Growth.
Our arrival at New Growth was met with unease by most, but the Seven Stages were happy to see an outsider. Compatriot U. Mcpherson introduced us to Friend Sia Marqez, a vocal leader among the Seven Stages Movement.
She welcomed the crew of the Leading Light into her lodging for a glass of mudders milk and it is there we exchanged dialogue of Democracy’s mission and the value of liberty. All there with the Seven Stages were pleased to hear of our alignment. Friend Sia Marqez shared with us their belief in the mutual assurance of what they call the seven stages of life and their fight to insure these seven stages of life to all of those living in New Growth. They tell of the mass illness on board New Growth and the growing infertility of their population due to a lack of pollutant regulation. Their story is one of resistance against The Shunned who dismantle their attempts at social welfare and murder those who attempt assembly to regulate. They want to ensure all those on board New Growth have the opportunity to grow to old age but lack many of the means to successfully over rule The Shunned.
In light of our shared visions of liberty and prosperity, the science department on behalf of Democracy donated 5,000,000 CR to the Seven Stages Movement to aid in their fight against The Shunned and to gain more influence among the colony. In addition to the credits, guardian weaponry and tech were given to provide an edge over the greater Shunned force.
Before the crew of the Leading Light and the seven stages could celebrate this gift however, word was received that The Shunned leadership had gained knowledge of our presence and had an executioners party sent out for us. With the help of Compatriot U. Mcpherson and Friend Sia Marqez. Leading Light and her crew were able to escape New Growth without incident.
On our exit out of the system we received word from Friend Sia Marqez who expressed joy and gratitude for our gift. “It is our work that binds us. It may seem our departure has come but this is only the beginning of our work. We may find ourselves thousands of light years apart but together we shall always be working to bring about liberty and prosperity for all. May you and your Democracy fair well Science Officers. You shall always have an ally here with the Seven.”
We here on board Democracy extend an arm of comradeship to the Seven Stage Movement. We wish them luck in their fight and we hope to return one day to find New Growth healthy and liberated. May all great things have small beginnings.
